Change in backing packing route!!!

I found it quite silly to travel up from Ho Chi Minh (HCM) to Hanoi and back down again, after hearing about the bumpy and long journey. Thus the trips will now be from HCM to Hanoi and a flight direct from Hanoi to S'pore.

Day 1 (10 Aug)
Singapore → Ho Chi Minh City (HCM)
(Secure trip to Angkor Wat, for early next morning)
(Secure day trip to Mekong Delta on Day 5)
(Buy open tour bus pass from HCM to Hanoi 47 USD)

Day 2 (11 Aug)
Ho Chi Minh City → Siem Reap, Cambodia
• 6.45am - Catch bus to Siem Reap
• 7pm - Arrive in Siem Reap

Day 3 (12 Aug)
Siem Reap

Day 4 (13 Aug)
Siem Reap, Cambodia → HCM

Day 5 (14 Aug)
HCM → Mekong Detla (Can Tho) → HCM

Day 6 (15 Aug)
HCM

Day 7 (16 Aug)
HCM → Nha Trang (Bus Dep: 7.30am or 8.30pm)
• 15.30 pm - Arrive in Nha Trang
• 7.30 am - Catch bus to Nha Trang

Day 8 (17 Aug)
Nha Trang → Hoi An
• 7.30 am - Catch bus to Hoi An
ZL will be heading back to HCM to catch 5.30 pm flight back to S'pore by Tiger
• 15.30 pm - Arrive at Hoi An

Day 9 (18 Aug)
Hoi An → Vinh → Hue
• 8 am - Catch bus to Hue
• 12 pm - Arrive at Hue

Day 10 (19 Aug)
Hue → Hanoi
• 5.30 pm - Catch bus to Hanoi

Day 11(20 Aug)
Hanoi (Confirm trip to Ha Long Bay)
• 5.30 am - Arrive at Hanoi

Day 12 (21 Aug)
Hanoi → Ha Long

Day 13 (22Aug)
Ha Long Bay (Stay on Junk overnight & Kayaking)

Day 14 (23 Aug)
Ha Long → Hanoi → Singapore
Fly be Tiger, depart at 1950 hrs, arrive in S'pore at 0015 hrs, 25 Aug.


Further details of specific itinerary will be planned in the next week.

Review: Chock Full of Beans

Interestingly popular place despite the distance from the city. Filled with the average working crowd you would expect in town, you can find them at Chock Full of Beans during the lunch hours. Attracted by the appealing set lunch ranging from $12 to $14, for a main and a drink or a soup, is not too bad of a choice, especially if the drink is of premium coffee. An average size shop, like any other along the Changi Village shops, the owners make full utilise the space by offering al fresco dining. Quite a number will be sitting outside, for 2 reasons. Firstly because they have been in the office for too long and want to defrost, and secondly because there is no other space. We ordered the BBQ Pork Sandwich ($12) and the Salmon Penne ($14). The lunch sets come with either a soup or a drink. We took one of each, Mushroom Soup and a Café Latte. Food didn’t take very long to come despite the full house. Project Cambodia OutReach Expedition (CORE) 2011 Recce Day 1

A much anticipated trip to Cambodia, to take a break from working in Singapore so as to work abroad, was a nice feeling. Along with me on this trip was my travel partner, Daniel Tay, Project CORE Chair. Our trip would last for 5 days, 14th to 18th of June 2011, taking us 1573 km by plane (transiting at Siem Reap) and 371 km my taxi on bumpy roads. After a 'cheap' lunch at the staff canteen, we proceeded to belt 3 in Terminal 1 and immediately proceeded into transit; for there was no one to stay goodbye too. In doing so, we were extremely early, so early that our plane was not even at the airport. The earlier Jetstar plane which was at our belt. Since we were so early we had a long debate, tempted by the rows upon rows of duty free shops, whether to buy a gift for the Brothers.
